Budget-friendly⌖ Old Quarter

Old Quarter · Hoàn Kiếm
Booking 1 star hotels in Vietnam are the riskiest option. I was ready for this to be a let-down, but it somehow exceeded my expectations. The room is spacious, gets heaps of natural light, has an almost panoramic view of the Old Quarter, and was spotless. I still can’t believe it was 28 USD.
Best for: Solo travellers, backpackers & tight budgets
It’s in the Old Quarter, on a street that’s quiet at night, so you can sleep peacefully. The beds are a nice medium softness, and it comes with a breakfast buffet that’s actually pretty good quality.
Best for: Boutique charm, central Old Quarter walks & quiet sleep
My personal favourite accommodation has to be this. It’s right by Hoan Kiem Lake and was newly developed in 2025, so everything is pristine. The breakfast is crazy because you can order à la carte on top of the buffet. The people are super nice. They bring everything up for you, including your laundry delivery and your Grab. The room is beautiful, and there’s a rooftop bar and a swimming pool.
Immigration can take up hours if you get unlucky. You definitely don't want to deal with it after a long flight. So I highly recommend paying for the fast track to skip the immigration line.
